SEIFSA Ministerial Business Breakfast

Advancing Industrial Recovery Through Policy and Trade Dialogue

SEIFSA hosted its Ministerial Business Breakfast on 24 June 2026, bringing together industry leaders, policymakers and business representatives for a strategic discussion on the policy and trade issues shaping South Africa’s industrial future.

Held under the theme Advancing Industrial Recovery Through Policy and Trade Dialogue, the breakfast provided a platform for meaningful engagement on industrial policy, trade measures, competitiveness and the practical actions needed to strengthen South Africa’s manufacturing sector.

The programme featured a keynote address by Ayabonga Cawe, Chief Commissioner of the International Trade Administration Commission (ITAC), followed by an interactive discussion with delegates on the opportunities and challenges facing local industry.

Discussions explored the role of industrial policy in supporting economic growth, the evolving global trade environment, tariff policy, localisation, competitiveness and the importance of effective collaboration between government and industry in advancing South Africa’s reindustrialisation agenda.

The breakfast reinforced the importance of continued dialogue between policymakers and industry as South Africa seeks to strengthen its industrial base, improve competitiveness and create the conditions necessary for investment, growth and employment.

As the voice of the metals and engineering sector, SEIFSA remains committed to providing platforms that encourage informed discussion, constructive engagement and practical collaboration on the issues shaping the future of South African manufacturing.
