Johannesburg, 22 August 2025 — The Steel and Engineering Industries Federation of Southern Africa (SEIFSA) and its affiliated members took to the Royal Johannesburg & Kensington Golf Club for a day of golf and padel on August 15.

The clear spring day saw 69 four balls — 278 golfers wearing Sanlam-sponsored caps and T-shirts — make their way around the exquisitely manicured East and West courses. For first time in its history, SEIFSA hired both  courses due to overwhelming demand that continues to increase each year.

Each sponsored hole offered an array of branded gifts, snacks and liquid courage for the golfers. The overall winner of the day was the Grundfos Team with 114 points.

Dynamic Fluid Control sponsored the prizes for the best stand, with Invincible Valves taking the East Course and Macsteel the West Course.

For the first time in its 74-year history, SEIFSA’s Annual Golf Day added padel — the world’s fastest-growing sport.

Rand Mutual Assurance (RMA) sponsored the padel competition, which attracted 36 players; Christine Storey from Industrial Water Cooling took first prize.

Jessica Hutchings, head of prevention at RMA, said her organisation chose to sponsor the padel because safety begins with health and wellbeing and “padel provides an opportunity to get both” as you get to  play outside, destress and enjoy the company of new friends and colleagues.

“SEIFSA is extremely grateful for the excellent turnout at this year’s Golf Day. We appreciate members’ support and participation in our Annual Golf Day and the opportunity it provides to our members to network”  said SEIFSA CEO Lucio Trentini.
